'What to Consider When Choosing a CPS High School' Discussion on March 29

Generation All and Raise Your Hand are hosting a discussion on what matters beyond test scores and reputation when choosing a high school.

Elaine Allensworth of the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research will present two recent studies on the effects of attending selective enrollment high schools especially on low income students. Following that, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Linda Lutton and featuring Wells Community Academy Principal Rita Raichoudhuri and CPS parents and high schools students.

UofC offers free tuition to children of CPS teachers/staffers who are admitted

The University of Chicago has offered free tuition to any child of a CPS staffer who is admitted to the university. This scholarship is worth more than $200,000 over four years.

Next HPKCAC meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 22 at Dyett HS

The next meeting of the HPKCAC will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at Dyett HS from 6pm-8pm. We will be discussing ideas for spending the $3000 which CPS is making available to each CAC. Please come with your ideas!

30,000 summer job/internships available to young people ages 14-24

On March 15, 2017 DNA Info reported that teens and young adults looking for a summer job or internship can apply online for one of the 30,000 positions offered through the One Summer Chicago program.
Youths ages 14-24 can apply online at onesummerchicago.org until May 15.
